Well I've just completed my 2 week trial of War of Warcraft, so I thought I'd post a few comments about it for anyone who may be interested.
First of all, WOW (and by that, I don't mean the shorthand for World of Warcraft, I really mean WOW!!). This game is pretty incredible in many ways.
The game world, of which I only saw a little bit in the 14 day trial, is absolutely huge. The graphics are great, and the music and effects are atmospheric. I was really impressed with the whole setup of the game.
Gameplay is addictive, the never-ending quest for more experience points to gain levels and hence strength and abilities. A good mix of classes, so you can get various gameplay experiences. I chose a Paladin character, which gives a good mix of casting spells and up close melee fighting.
It seems to be very quest-based, so you talk to some characters and choose if you want to carry out a quest, which usually involves killing a number of things, searching for someone or suchlike. The stories behind the quests are quite interesting and the quests themselves are nicely varied. As your character gains experience, the quests will lead you into new areas into battle with stronger opponents. The reward for completing quests is exp points and usually money and/or items for your inventory.
The curiosity to see new areas is a great incentive to keep completing quests and gain exp. Some of the scenery, towns and cities are visually stunning.
Battles are a little different to what I was expecting, but it's a great system.
Having come off the back of huge battles in PSU where you hammer away at the action buttons, WoW battles at first were a big departure.
In WoW battles involve selecting an enemy and then the game will start hitting them automatically with your main weapon. Depending on your abilities and weapons you can choose how/what to hit with during the battle. You can see how much damage you are doing and the damage to your character, but the battles play out under control of the program. You can move around, but can't easily run away if you are low on life as the enemy will keep hitting you.
As you get more into WoW you realise that battles can be quite tactical, in that you can cast spells during the battle to cause damage or incapacitate your opponent, or raise your sheild value or whatever. What you can't do, or at least I couldn't with my character yet, that I was used to in PSU, is cast a spell to heal yourself during the fight - it just takes too much time and you are killed before it completes, so you have to be careful who you take on. I was able to cast a spell to make me invulnerable, which usually let me run away if my life was low.
If you die, you go to the nearest graveyard as a ghost, from where you can locate your body and reincarnate. Nice!
I didn't play morning noon and night, just a few hours most days, and I got to level 11 with spells which were getting me into new areas and better weapons.
I can see that it would be very easy to play WoW to the exclusion of all else. It's such a huge game and so much to see and do. On a completely different level altogether from PSO and PSU. And it is nice to be battling away with a beastie and see other players running around, truly an MMO.
Overall, 9 out of 10. If I had the time I'd be hooked on this for months if not years.
I may go back to it for a month or so sometime, but now I'm off to get stuck into Morrowind on Xbox.

Late to this but I was working away the other week and was working through the night so I signed up for the trial, it is an awesome game.
I ordered the full retail version today, was only £7 and thats with another months play. I dont know if I would sign up for it beyond that tho.
What I like best is, it plays on my work lap top, I can play it on the go for 10minutes here and there, just do a quick quest between experiments.. Its the exact opposite of the addictive nature that appeals to me, just have a dabble every now and then.
Cant see me playing it as much as PSO but thats more because I have less free time now.
9/10
ps Morrowind is one of the greatest games ever. Did you enjoy?
